Easyfile updated now I cant log in

Once again Easyfile updated itself and once again I cant log in.

I tried uninstalling an re-installing both Easyfile and Java, and did not have any success. It seems the latest version of Easyfile is incompatible with the latest version of java. Here is what worked:

  1. Download the latest version of easyfile if you have not already. Today it is 6.6.2
  2. Download java. You will need version 6u43. I put the following into a search engine: “jre 6u43 windows x64” (I have 64bit windows, you might have 32bit then you can leave out the x64 part of the search) (NB! to get the old version of java direct from java.com you have to register, which is lame)
  3. I chose to download the file from filehippo.
  4. Uninstall Easyfile in the control panel
  5. Uninstall all versions of java
  6. Install the version of java that you downloaded above
  7. Install Easyfile
  8. The easyfile install program warns that you have the wrong version of java. Just say yes or ok
  9. The easyfile install program finishes up and you can log into Easyfile
  10. When I logged in, there was a EMP201 update and then I had to log in again – but now everything is working fine again

Your experience might be different. But it worked for me…

    I was so excited to find the above, but nothing is working for me!!! I can still not import live files – the second step in the process just bombs out. On phoning SARS helpdesk for the 100th time, I got the following interesting tips :

    Page through your IRP5s and check for an error IRP5 (ja…I am submitting 499 000 certificates… and is already at the LIVE stage).

    Contact a local SARS office….

    Is there some out there that can help!!!!

  2. Well done. SARS need to change their slogan. It is not “SARS at your service”, it is more like “There is no SARS without your service”

  4. I have done all the above and still no joy, I am at my wits end. The guy that can apparently help, I can not seem to get through to his page, please can you help?

    1. I also cant find his details. Sorry for your trouble. I posted what worked for me. If you already tried that then you need something different. You should contact your local IT support. Good luck…

    Numerous calls to SARS call centre. webseasrches where someone will help for a fee and access to my computer with remote viewer (who gives a complete stranger access, I don’t mind paying but the security risk is to great) Out of the dark like a Phoenix rising I found your instructions and behold my EFILING works.     Just a quick tip make sure you install the correct version x86 or x64 of Java 6 Update 43 suited for your operating services.

  10. Hi, I just want to say thank you for the great info that I received via your website as I also could not get the Easyfile downloaded since last year August’14. I have now been trying since April this year every now & again with no luck, following some of the steps mentioned in this website helped. I put in 6u43 and was taken to an update Java of 7u67 which completed and I was able to put in my passwords & carry on. I will say anyone doing banking on the same computer will need to uninstall all Java to load the correct one for easyfile and once this is done to uninstall all again and load the latest version so as to be able to login to your banking. Wish SARS could get their website in order for this info. Thank you once again.

  11. This is the message I get when trying to open easyfile.
    I deleted all Java files and easyfile. Downloaded the Java 6u43 and downloaded a new copy of easyfile. No luck.

    The Message!!!
    e@syFile has detected that your encrypted login credentials are corrupt and need to be regenerated. Click ‘OK’ to continue
    I click OK and the program says “creating key” and than “closing down”
    Any ideas?

  13. Downloaded the file from Hippo and I could log on. No issue further. Have been struggling all day.
