Easyfile updated now I cant log in

Once again Easyfile updated itself and once again I cant log in.

I tried uninstalling an re-installing both Easyfile and Java, and did not have any success. It seems the latest version of Easyfile is incompatible with the latest version of java. Here is what worked:

  1. Download the latest version of easyfile if you have not already. Today it is 6.6.2
  2. Download java. You will need version 6u43. I put the following into a search engine: “jre 6u43 windows x64” (I have 64bit windows, you might have 32bit then you can leave out the x64 part of the search) (NB! to get the old version of java direct from java.com you have to register, which is lame)
  3. I chose to download the file from filehippo.
  4. Uninstall Easyfile in the control panel
  5. Uninstall all versions of java
  6. Install the version of java that you downloaded above
  7. Install Easyfile
  8. The easyfile install program warns that you have the wrong version of java. Just say yes or ok
  9. The easyfile install program finishes up and you can log into Easyfile
  10. When I logged in, there was a EMP201 update and then I had to log in again – but now everything is working fine again

Your experience might be different. But it worked for me…

  1. THANK YOU for posting this information online! I have spent nearly 8 hours downloading and re-downloading this easyfile update thinking I had perhaps downloaded the software incorrectly. I can’t understand why SARS couldn’t post this on their website for those experiencing problems!! THANK YOU AGAIN!

  2. Thanks for this. It is January 2015 and SARS has still not address this problem! After spending most of yesterday downloading and uninstalling the software I found your post on the web and TA-DA! Thank you so much!

  3. Hi. Thank you so much for your post. You’re a life saver. I spend hours scratching my head on what the problem could have been. Sadly SARS are still not on top of their game.

  4. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Downloaded and re-installed soooo many times even on different machines! – before reading this post…

Didn’t even bother with SARS coz I knew that they wouldn’t have been able to resolve their own mess…

    1. uninstalled java – control panel, program features. All java’s
    2. made a backup of my E@syfile data file and saved in a place I could find later.
    3. uninstalled E@syfile – control panel- program features.
    4. Downloaded the Java 8 31 (64bit) from javas website. Run on my pc
    5. Downloaded the Java SE Development Kit 8 Update 25 (64 bit) from Java website. Run on my pc.
    6. Downloaded the E@asyfile 6.6.2 from sars website and run the file on my pc.
    7. Then E@syfile opened with re creating my passwords for ADMIN etc.
    8. Restore backup that you made earlier.

and then I was able to log out and log in and link my company.

    Thanks Belinda

  8. Thank you so much. After a week of battling and installing different versions of Java… this one worked.

    So grateful.

  9. Thank you!! I have had similar experience to all the very grateful posters. I will be bookmarking your site for the next time I need to use easyfile because guaranteed it will not work again. SARS seems to delight in confusing its users. Thanks again

  10. Thank you so much! Java 7u40 x64 worked for me.
But I cannot import my Pastel Payroll file. It passes the validation process, prepares the data for importing, run through the whole date import process but then gives me the message that the import has failed…..
    Please help!

  11. Hello everybody!

I managed to get my file imported!!!!
I have taken your advice (again!) and deleted JAVA and EasyFile from my laptop. I installed Java Runtime Environment 8.0 build 40 (64-bit) and then Java SE Development Kit 8 Update 40 (64 bit). I then downloaded EasyFile 6.6.2. I did received a message during download that my Java was outdated and that I need a later version but ignored it.
Thank you so much for sharing your advice and expertise. Much appreciated!

  12. Thanks very much. Uninstalled JAVA and EasyFile 6.6.2. Reinstalled older version of JAVA jre 6u43 windows x64, then Easyfile 6.6.2 again, and all is good.

  13. Thank you! Thank you! What a nightmare it was, I spent almost a week day after day installing and deleting and no use! Its working perfect now! I used Oracle website to download Java thou. Thanks again
